Reading the label
Every legal cannabis product in Canada carries a standardized label and the red cannabis symbol. Here’s what the key information means.
THC & CBD content
Shown as a percentage for dried flower, or in milligrams for edibles, oils and drinks. Higher THC isn’t always better — the right amount depends on your experience and goals.
Packaged / harvest date
Fresher flower generally has a better terpene profile and aroma.
Terpenes
The aromatic compounds that shape the smell and character of a cultivar.
Equivalency & quantity
Net weight and, for some formats, dried-cannabis equivalency for tracking possession limits.
Proper storage
To keep cannabis fresh and potent at home:
- Store in a cool, dark place away from direct light and heat.
- Keep it in an airtight container to preserve terpenes and slow degradation.
- Maintain moderate humidity — too dry makes flower harsh; too damp risks mould.
- Always store securely and out of reach of children and pets.
